Martin Weber, 89, of Oakley, died Sunday, January 19, 2014. He was born February 5, 1924 in Gove County, KS to Jakob and Rosa (Herrmann) Weber. He was a US Army Veteran and received a silver star. On April 27, 1948 he married Antonia Heier. They farmed and raised eight children. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Oakley V.F.W. He had also served on the Rural Life Board, Oakley Senior Citizens Board and was part of the St. Joseph School Building Committee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Antonia; grandson, Justin Gibson; great grandchildren, Brendon Givens and Braxton Marcum; son-in-law John Moreland; brothers, Bart, Cely, Tony, Henry and Msgr. John George Weber; sister, Minnie Christenson; father and mother-in-law, Ben & Margaret Heier; brother-in-laws, Johnny Reidel, Al Meier, George Christenson, Con Gassmann, Leo Zerr, Alfred Heier, Frank Heier, Augustine Heier; sister-in-laws, Jo Heier and Margaret Heier.
He is survived by his children, James (Sue) Weber, Oakley, KS, Mike (Deanne) Weber, Gordonville, TX, Elaine (Pete) Stone, Oakley, KS, Eugene (Theresa) Weber, Hennessey, OK, Karen Weber, Colby, KS, Ilene (Roy) Nickel, Oakley, KS, Rose (Rick) Yeager, Greatbend, KS, Pauline (Gary) Unruh, Cheyenne Wells, CO; siblings Larry Weber, Sil Weber, Maggie Gassmann, Marie Meier, Dilly Reidel, and Al Weber; brother-in-laws, Bill Heier, Felix (Katherine) Heier, and Tom (Margaret) Heier; sister-in-laws, Lena Zerr, Bernice Heier and Tina Bockwinkel; Nineteen grandchildren; forty five great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 4-8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 23, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Oakley with a vigil at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 24, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial at St. Joseph Cemetery, Oakley.
