Marlene G. Voss, 72, of Colby, died Friday, December 31, 2021, at her home. She was born June 16, 1949, in Colby, KS to Harold and Margery (Bond) Trail. Marlene attended Gem Schools until their closing and then graduated from Rexford High School in 1967. She married Tommy Hurtt in 1968, and to this union, two daughters were born, Gwen and Mandy.

On August 11, 1977, Marlene accepted Jesus as her Savior and was baptized in Culbertson, NE by her brother-in-law Don Rosebrough. She led many people to Christ encouraging family and friends to accept Jesus.

Marlene worked at the Colby Grade School for 10 years and loved working with kids. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, writing, crafting, painting, spending time outdoors looking for arrowheads, special rocks and other treasures. You would always see her with a kid or dog attached to her hip.

On July 16, 1982, Marlene married Roger Voss and embraced his children, Shannon, Brandy and Eric. She loved spending time with her family especially nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather Carl Kirk; brother Dave Trail; brother-in-law Don Rosebrough; niece Barb Farber; nephew Danny Trail, and granddaughter Kyra Voss.

Marlene is survived by her husband Roger of Colby KS; children, Gwen Hurtt (Donna), of Goodland, KS, Mandy (Oura) Garrett, of Goodland, KS, Shannon (Patrick) Howser, of Scottsburg, IN, Brandy (Tony) Hackerott, of Canton, KS and Eric (Christina) Voss, of Concordia, KS; sisters, Rose Fabrizius, Sandy Rosebrough and twin sister Darlene (Matt) Soukup; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will take place at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2022, at the Gathering Place, Colby, with burial in Beulah Cemetery, Colby. Memorials may be made to the Pioneer Memorial Library or Prairie Museum of Art and History and sent in care of Baalmann Mortuary, PO Box 391, Colby, KS 67701.
