Margaret Delores (Ward) Chick passed away peacefully Sunday, April 30, 2023, at Colby Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born January 10, 1923, to Greely and Margaret (Nemecek) Ward in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and celebrated her 100th birthday this past January.
Margaret graduated from Colby Senior High School in 1941 and married Lloyd Chick in July 1941. Together, they operated Careful Cleaners in Colby for many years.
Margaret lived a full and active life. She loved participating in various activities such as bowling, tap dancing, and water exercise. She played golf with four of her close friends at 6 am so they could finish before work. In addition, Margaret participated in bowling leagues until her 70’s and won the City Championship in her mid-60s. Most of all, she loved tap dancing, participating in dance recitals until her 80’s.
She is survived by son Stephen (wife Heidi) Chick; daughter Pat (husband C.W.) Hamilton;10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd; sons David and Gary; daughters Paula, Pam and Peggy; her parents; sisters Lucille and Aline; and brothers Paul and Joseph.
Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby. Graveside services will be held Friday, May 12, 2023, at 1:00 pm at the Beulah Cemetery in Colby. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Colby United Methodist Church and sent in care of Baalmann Mortuary, PO Box 391, Colby, KS 67701.
