Lyla M. Younkin, 81, of Oakley, died Friday, May 26, 2017, at the Logan County Hospital. She was born August 2, 1935, in Gove County, KS, to Charles and Ruth (Moss) Sidles. Lyla graduated from Grinnell High School in 1953 and on July 21, 1957, married Floyd “Jackie” Younkin. She worked in the insurance industry for 60 years. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Oakley United Methodist Church. Lyla enjoyed doing farm work with her husband, bowling, painting, and keeping up with her grandchildren’s activities.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents and sister Beula Bloom.
She is survived by her children, Randall (Donella) Younkin, of Oakley and Tamera (Todd) Poore, of Glendale, AZ; sisters, Nina Hayes and Linda Schwarz; grandchildren, Cody, Levi and Kelly Younkin and Savannah and Sierra Poore and great grandchildren, Tait, Maycee, Lakota and Hannah Younkin and Hadlie and Harloe Younkin.
Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2017, at Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley. Funeral Service is 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the Oakley United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Oakley City Cemetery.
