Lindeman on the farm in Sheridan County. He attended school in a one room school house where he picked up the nickname Dyke which came from him looking like the little boy in the book that put his finger in the dyke to save the city. He attended high school in Hoxie. He was brought back home early to help on the farm when his brother Oliver joined WWII. He joined the war himself once he turned 18 where he served with the 780th bomb squadron as turret gunnery. He flew 25 missions. After returning from the war he ran a gas truck until there was a gas shortage as well as farmed. On June 18, 1957 he married Alice Campbell. They had four children, Lou Ann, Tom, Brenda and Kay. They lived and farmed on the family homestead until 1960 before moving to Oakley. In addition to farming he briefly owned the bowling alley, drove a cattle truck, tested dairy cow milk and had a disc sharpening business. In his retirement years he enjoyed fishing, hunting, beating the woman at cards, going to the casino’s and his grandkids, plus driving the occasional section with his friends. His wife convinced him to travel, driving all over the USA. They also took cruises to the Virgin Island, Panama Canal, Hawaii and Alaska plus a trip to Mexico. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, VFW and Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis H and Anna, infant sister Betty, brother Oliver & wife Vi, brother Raymond, sister Ann Anderson & husband Bud and brother-in-law Francis Beckman.
