Loretta Gene Rodriguez, 73, of Hoxie, died Sunday, August 27, 2017, at the Sheridan County Hospital, in Hoxie. She was born August 1, 1944, in Studley, KS, to Thomas and Ermagene “Jeanette” (Dunlap) Irwin. She graduated from Hoxie High School. Loretta was a homemaker, but had also worked as a CNA, personal caregiver and loved her job working in sales at Great Plains Hardware. Loretta enjoyed traveling, gardening, playing cards, sewing, reading and using her IPad to play games and stay in touch with family through Facebook. She loved her dogs, NASCAR racing and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Weston Jones and Manuel Rodriguez; son, Richard Jones and brothers, Tom, Lawrence and Ralph Irwin.
She is survived by her children, Yockey Jones, Grand Junction, CO, Vala (Fred) Albers, Rexford, KS, Raymie (David) Mahanna, Hoxie, KS, Josie (Brian) Weis, Colby, KS, Lita (Matthew) Allen, Great Bend, KS, Erma (Chris) Kraft, Colby, KS and Rebecca (Andrew) Douglas, Raytown, MO; siblings, Orrine Irwin, Haysville, KS and Lynette Rodriguez, Hoxie; twenty three grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Cremation was chosen and a private family graveside service will take place at the Studley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the 4-H Building, in Hoxie.
