Lois Jean Dawes, 83, of Colby, died Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Citizens Medical Center. She was born August 29, 1930 in rural Thomas County to Morris and Merle (Dawes) Ekberg. She married Duane Frank Dawes on September 12, 1948 in Colby. She was a homemaker and very active in the Levant Community Church. She was a Sunday School Teacher to many young ones in the area for 30 plus years and also served as a member of the Ladies Aid Ministry. She enjoyed attending the Wednesday afternoon prayer group each week and the fellowship she shared with others. Her faith was her top priority and her love for her family and friends was unsurpassed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane and her parents.
She is survived by her children Mike (Teresa) Dawes of Chanute and Terri (Rod) Arnberger of Levant; grandchildren Lindsey (Jason) Hess of Oklahoma City, Brett (Ashley) Arnberger of Colby, Lacey Dawes of Frontenac, Katie Dawes of Norton, VA, great grandson, Ruxin Dawes Arnberger of Colby; brother, Bob (Dixie) Ekberg, of Colby; sister-in-law, Eva Keck, of Colby and an aunt, Sue (Larry) Oskay, Littleton, CO.
Visitation will be 10:00am - 6:00pm, Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby. Funeral Service will be 10:00am, Wednesday, May14, 2014 at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby.
