LeRoy Maier, 79, Oakley, KS, died March 9, 2014 at Prairie Senior Living Complex in Colby, KS. He was born March 1, 1935 in Voda, KS to Fred and Elizabeth (Fabrizius) Maier. LeRoy farmed with his siblings south of Voda throughout his life. For 43 years, he hauled cattle for Jim Mitten Trucking Inc., where he met Constance “Connie” Garrett. LeRoy and Connie married on August 11, 1976 at the Country Chapel south of Oakley. He served as an active board member for the Country Chapel for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Frieda Maier, Dolly Maier and Marie Armbruster; five brothers, Ismal, Henry, Immanuel, William “Bill”, and Rudolph “Rudy” and one granddaughter, Linsey Catherine Schiltz.
He is survived by his wife, Connie; daughter, Tina Schiltz of Oakley; son, Daniel “Jody” and wife Bobette of Colby; five grandchildren, Jackylee, Katelyn and Merit Schiltz, Ethan and Emma Maier; great- granddaughter, Caydence Schiltz; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Cremation was chosen. Family will receive visitors 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley. A Memorial Service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the United Methodist Church, Oakley.
