Lela Mae Heier, 89, of Sharon Springs, formerly of Oakley, died Friday, March 3, 2017. She was born August 28, 1927, in Collyer, KS, to Herman and Mary (Mader) Lintel. She graduated from Oakley High School. She married Gordon Kinsley in August 1945 and to this union three children were born. She later married Francis Halbleib in February 1956 and had one child, and then in January 1959 she married Pius Heier and four more children were born. She worked retail at many of the stores throughout Oakley. Lela enjoyed bingo, gardening, knitting and reading. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Oakley, the Daughters of Isabella and the St. Joseph Altar Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Gordon, Francis and Pius; daughter Sharon Summers; grandsons, Christopher Kinsley and Mathew Rudell; sisters, Laverna Robben, Eunice Weber, Elaine Hammerschmidt and Marietta Coats.
She is survived by her children, John (Lori) Kinsley, Oakley, KS, Karen (Larry) Rudell, Loveland, CO, Cindy (Jon) Voth, Sharon Springs, KS, Pam (Larry) Reddick, Overland Park, KS, Mary (Brad) Heinrich, Greenwood Village, CO, Tim Heier, Sharon Springs, KS and Kim (Eric) Anderson, Heath, TX; son-in-law, Larry Summers, Wallace, KS and siblings, Armella Kruse, Geraldine Swart and Don Lintel; 22 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley, with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass is 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Oakley, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
