Lavonne Baxter

LaVonne F. Baxter, 89, of Winona, died Thursday, April 13, 2017. She was born May 15, 1927, to Ben & Edna (Meyer) Marcotte in Oakley, KS. She grew up in Kansas and married Paul Baxter Jr., raising four children, in Winona, KS. LaVonne worked for the Logan County Road Department for several years, before employment with the USD 275 School District, from which she retired. She was a strong Christian woman, beloved wife and a wonderful mother and grandmother. She loved reading the bible, books and singing in her beautiful contralto voice. She is now singing heavenly duets again, in the celestial choir with her beloved husband.

LaVonne was preceded in death by her beloved husband and sons, Greg and Berry.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Ed) Agner, of Palmdale, CA and Karen Baxter (John Dinkel), of Garden City, KS; grandchildren, Annette Agner, Nicki Agner (Paul Rumberger) and Dax Agner, Jasmine Packard, Linda Montemeyer, Amber Baxter and Lael Baxter; Great Grandchildren, Jadyn Agner-Rigley, Randy Clayton, Gage Wilson, Greyson Baxter, Sidney Dirks, Jarred Dirks, Jaidin Miller and Greg Miller; brother, Robert Marcotte, sister, Pat Weeks and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2017 at Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley. Funeral Service is 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the Wesleyan Church, Oakley, KS, with burial to follow in the Winona Cemetery.
