Larry Farmer, 77, of Oakley, KS, passed away July 2, 2017, in Garden City, KS. He was born May 26, 1940, to Richard Farmer and Lela (Kester) Farmer. He married Janet “Jan” (Goetz) on Sept 8, 1968. Larry was former Co-Owner of Traders Supermarket prior to him and Jan starting Prairie Dog Town, which they operated for over 45 years before retiring. Larry was a member of the United Methodist Church; a 50-year member of ISIS Shriners, Salina, KS; a 54-year member and Past Master of Oakley Masonic Lodge #253; Past President of Oakley Chamber of Commerce; served in the US Army; was an Oakley Range Rider and an Eagle Scout. Larry never knew a stranger, but was known by all as a fun jokester, loving husband and caring father.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Jan; daughters, Sue (Farmer) Wendelbo and Diane (Farmer) (Elliott) Hoeb; son, Terry Farmer; son-in-laws, Chris Wendelbo and Darrin Hoeb; daughter-in-law, Lacey (Martin) Farmer; sisters, Suzanne (Farmer) Craig and Mary Sue Ziba; brother, Blaine Moore and grandchildren, Dalton and Lela Elliott.
Funeral followed by Grave Side Service and Celebration of Life Reception will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 11, 2017 at the Oakley United Methodist Church.
