Kyle Taylor

February 17, 1968 — July 26, 2023

Kyle Lane Taylor, 55, of Colby, died Wednesday, July 26, 2023, in Hoxie, KS. He was born February 17, 1968, in Oakley, KS, to Louis “Tuffy” and LoDema (Coberley) Taylor. Kyle grew up in Hoxie and was a small-town farm boy at heart. He graduated from Hoxie High in 1986. He then attended the University of Kansas, obtaining a Bachelors in Business Administration in 1990.

Kyle was active in many organizations, including: the American Bonanza Society, Rotary of Hoxie, Colby Municipal Airport board, Claas Implement committee member and was a chairman of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EEA). Kyle worked at Earth Born Clean, owned Golf USA in Lawrence, KS and was the General Manager/ Operating Partner at Taylor Implement, of Hoxie, KS.

The stars aligned when Kyle and Tawnia met, they were instantly soul mates, sharing all the same passions and interests. Kyle and Tawnia Herrin were married on September 24, 2021, in Manitou Springs, CO. Kyle enjoyed flying his plane, fishing, riding his motorcycle, snowmobiling, and hiking at “the cabin” in Colorado. He always found more enjoyment in these activities when he was teaching others. He was no stranger to hard work and committed himself wholeheartedly to ensure everyone around him was comfortable and happy. Coach Kyle loved to help his son Ethan and daughter Sophie with softball and baseball. A special twinkle came to Kyle’s eye when he shared stories about his wife Tawnia and his children. He was undoubtedly a family man. Kyle did not know a stranger and was a patient, kindhearted friend to so many — with a nonjudgmental attitude in every circumstance.

He was preceded in death by his mother LoDema; sister Melissa; brother Kory and grandparents, LeVan and Delia “Dilo” Coberly, and William and Elizabeth Taylor.

Kyle is survived by his wife Tawnia; children, Ethan, and Sophie Taylor; sister Kami (Brandon) Booi; Father Louis “Tuffy” and stepmother Linda Taylor; stepchildren, Brittany, Brooklyn and Brielle; stepsisters, Heather Wilkins and Bethanie Cameron; nieces, Hali Booi, Aaliyah Palmer, Lennyx Wilkins, Olivia and Nadia Williams; nephews, Josh, Cayle and Payton Taylor and Hagan Booi; brothers-in-law, Bill Wilkins and Scott Cameron.
