Kevin G. Schiltz of Oakley, Kansas died Sunday, July 2, 2023 at Citizens Medical Center in Colby Kansas.
Born May 31, 1955, he was adopted by John “Jack” and Norlene (Baalman) Schiltz. He was the oldest of four children. Kevin grew up in rural Sheridan County, attending school at Seguin and Menlo, graduating from Hoxie High School in 1973.
His work-life consisted of driving a semi and helping on the family farm. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, tending to his yard, and taking a drive in his Polaris Ranger. Kevin never met a stranger.
In 1979, Kevin married Barbara Hansen. He gained two step daughters, Mindy Baalman and Lori Baalman. Together, Kevin and Barbara had one daughter, Linsey. Barbara sadly passed away in an automobile accident in 1984. Linsey also tragically passed away in an automobile accident in 1996.
Kevin married Tina Maier in 1985. They have three girls, Jackylee, Katelyn and Merit; and three grandchildren, Caydence, Canon, and a granddaughter due in November.
Kevin is survived by his siblings: Kelly (Bonnie) Schiltz - Menlo, Kansas; Kendra (Joe) Hartman - Denver, Colorado; Kristen (Steve) Ostmeyer - Colby, Kansas; step-daughters: Mindy (James) Bieker and Lori (Jeff) Beaman; his three daughters: Jackylee Schiltz and Merit Schiltz - both of Oakley, Kansas; and Katelyn (Michael) Halbleib - Colby, Kansas; his grandkids and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Kevin is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Barbara, his daughter Linsey, and wife Kathy Bergin.
Visitation is 4-6:00 p.m., with a Vigil at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at the Immaculate Conception Parish Center, Grinnell, KS. Funeral Mass is 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 6, 2023, at the Immaculate Conception Church, Grinnell, with burial in the church cemetery.
