Kevin Finley

Kevin S Finley passed away on Sept 18, 2014, at the age of 56. He was born in Atwood at Rawlins County Hospital to John D & Doris E (Luedke) Finley, the 4th of their 5 sons. Kevin grew up in Atwood , graduating from Atwood High School in 1976. After completing 2 years at Colby Community College, Kevin started his own insulation, siding, & window business, Finley Energy Corporation in 1979. Kevin married Karin Snodgrass Sept 1, 1979, and they had just celebrated their 35 anniversary. This union was blessed by the ownership of 5 wonderful and wonderfully spoiled dogs throughout the years. When they still had the dogs, Kevin and Karin could be seen walking with them around Lake Atwood on a daily basis. Kevin enjoyed taking his well-trained Labrador Retrievers hunting and he and Karin especially enjoyed going to the Beaver Creek European Style hunts. Music was a big part of Kevin’s life, a strong bond that he and Karin shared. Kevin was a talented singer and participated in choir groups in high school and college. Kevin and Karin sang at many weddings together and Kevin’s beautiful rendition of the Our Father was a favorite request. Modern technology allowed Kevin to always have his favorite music on hand and he often could be heard singing at a variety of places- on the golf course, at the beach or pool, and even while waiting for a taxi. However, golf was Kevin’s #1 passion. He could be seen nearly every day on the course with the other 12:30 regulars. Inspired by friend and fellow golfer Arden Hale, Kevin was always willing to give free golf lessons and advice. Kevin also enjoyed traveling and he and Karin were able to go to many wonderful places together: Ireland, Belize, Grand Caymans, Las Vegas, Texas, Arizona & Florida. Most recently, Cabo San Lucas was the favorite and most frequented destination due to it’s warm weather and beautiful golf courses. Kevin didn’t know a stranger, meeting many people and making good friends through business, golf, and travel. He became known as Tio/Uncle Kevo to many, but will always hold a special place in the hearts of his nieces and nephews. He was a major source of entertainment for them and all have their favorite Uncle Kevo stories and memories. Kevin is survived by: Wife, Karin; Mother, Doris; Brothers Stephen (Anita), Larry, Doug (Donna), Brad (Laurie); Brother In-Law Roger (Lynda) Snodgrass, Sisters In-Law Paula Slater, Linda (Jeff) Glad; Nephews Jeff, Jarett, Jason Finley, Cole & Christopher Finley, Michael Hill, Curtis (Sarah) Snodgrass, Great-Nephews, Kyle & Ryan, Baby boy Fanders; Nieces Elizabeth Hill, Katie Snodgrass, Kelsey (Dayne Fanders) Chvatal, Camryn Glad, Cammie & Candace Finley, many relatives and friends. Preceded in death by: Father, John D. Finley, Father & Mother In-law Lonnie & Barbara Snodgrass; Beloved dogs, Jess, Blaze, Spike, Flash & Ace. There will be no visitation as Kevin wanted to be cremated and have his ashes spread in some of his favorite places. A celebration of life gathering will be at 12:30 Thursday, September 25 Atwood Country Club #4 Fairway. In lieu of flowers, memorials are asked to be given to Atwood Country Club Building Fund.
