Keith Orville Farmer, 91, of Colby, died Friday, May 13, 2016 at Citizens Medical Center. He was born August 5, 1924, in Menlo, KS, to Orville and Veda (Grover) Farmer. Keith married Nina May Griffin on November 5, 1943, in Colby. Keith served in the United States Army from August 10, 1944 to October 2, 1945 and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He owned and operated Keith Farmer’s Service, a Mobil service station, for 18 years and then ran The Shoe Closet for 15 years. He was a member of the Odd Fellows, VFW, American Legion and the First Christian Church.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents, wife Nina May; sister Mabel Langley and brother Dale Farmer.
He is survived by his children, Richard (Judi) Farmer, Olathe, KS, Patty (David) McClendon, Houston, TX, Linda (Randy) Smith, Colby, KS and Nancy (Rod) Moyer, Topeka, KS; 11 grandchildren, Greg Farmer, Eric Farmer, Melody Jones, Kim Silva, Tonya Countryman, Joel McClendon, Jonalan Smith, Adam Smith, Scott Smith, Dustin Moyer and Kayla Christian; twelve great grandchildren; sister, Neva McMakin; brothers-in-law, Bob Griffin and Dewey Griffin; sisters-in-law, Opal Linville and Bev Huessmann.
Visitation is 9-11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby. Funeral Service is 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby.
