Kathleen Ann Carman, 64, of Colby, passed away Friday, February 17, 2017, at her home. She was born January 1, 1953, in McCook, NE, to Earl and Marcella (Keagen) Ridpath. She grew up in Indianola, where she attended Republican Valley Schools.
On February 4, 1970, she married Darrell Eugene Carman at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, in McCook. The couple was blessed with nine children. The family made their home in Oakley, KS, where Kathleen was a homemaker and raised their children. Later in her life she was a Manager at Burger King for sixteen years. She remained in the area for the duration of her life.
Kathleen was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Oakley. She enjoyed sewing, collecting coins and monkeys, as well as being outdoors, fishing and camping. She also enjoyed cheering for the Huskers during Nebraska football games and spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Marcella Ridpath; brothers, Donald, Kenneth, Thomas and Michael Ridpath; sisters, Karen Durner, Roselyn Williams, Cherie Davis and Teresa Brown; one nephew, Anthony Brown and several aunts and uncles.
Survivors include, beloved father of her children, Darrell Carman, of Oakley; children, Chris Carman, of Mountainburg, AR, Eric (Stephanie) Carman, of McCook, NE, Heather (Mike) Westcott, of Colby, Sara Carman, of Ransom, KS, Adam (Cassie) Carman, of Hoxie, KS, Becky Carman, Josh Carman, Ashley Carman and Hannah Carman, all of Colby; seventeen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert, Shawn and Richard Ridpath; sisters, Mary Jacob and Patricia Jacob; as well as many other relatives and friends.
In memory of Kathleen, a short Catholic Prayer Service will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, in Indianola, NE, officiated by Fr. Greg Pawloski. Interment will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery.
