Joyce Kay Morgan, 61, of Atwood, died Saturday, January 9, 2016 in Andover, KS. She was born June 22, 1954, in Wichita, KS, to Everett and Violet (Coffman) Giesy. Joyce grew up in Wichita, graduating from East High School in 1972. She then attended Washburn University in Topeka. She married Kent Morgan on August 14, 1976. They labored together pastoring Open Door Fellowship Center in Pittsburg from 1976 until 1985. They then moved to Atwood and have pastored Courts of Praise for the past 30 years.
She was preceded in death by father.
She is survived by her mother, her husband, her son Austin (Megan), her brothers; Les (Cindy), Bob (Diana), and Terry (Cherise).
Her extended family and multitude of friends mourn her loss and cherish her memory. Joyce touched many lives with her wit, her wisdom, her musical talent, her Godly counsel, and her faithful Christian witness.
Her entrance into heaven has not ended her ministry on earth. Her mother will continue to benefit by the years of care given to her by her only daughter. Her husband and son will have the beauty of her life to help them bear the pain of her absence. Her three little brothers will always be under the influence of “Joycie Kay.” Her in-laws and cousins will never forget her demonstration of joyful Christianity. Her many nieces and nephews will forever be affected by the fun loving aunt who was always available to help them with the challenges of growing up.
Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 2015 at the United Methodist Church, Atwood with inurnment in Chardon Cemetery.
