Joseph John Adams, 68, of Lenexa, KS, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 13, 2015. Raised in Atwood, KS, Joe married his high school sweetheart, Connie Sue Ginther in 1968, and together they raised their children, Michelle and Tom. Joe would spend the majority of his life in Atwood, although leaving for brief periods with his family to live in Colorado, Tennessee and Lenexa, Kansas. Joe worked in retail management, was co-owner of Adams and Son Ford in Atwood and in his later years, enjoyed driving a school bus. He was an avid reader, and read every book in the mystery section of the Atwood Library. Joe also served as President of the Atwood Library Board.
Joe attended Saint Joseph’s Military Academy in Hays, Kansas, and was a charter member and Vice President of the Sigma Chi Fraternity at Fort Hays State University in Hays, where he graduated in 1969. Joe raised his family in the Church and committed himself to Christ. His commitment was evident when he became a member of the Knights of Columbus, ultimately serving as Grand Knight of the Atwood Council and Faithful Navigator of the Fourth Degree.
In faith, Joe was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, John and Martha Adams; in-laws, Elmer and Ferne Ginther; his nephew, Jay Ginther, and his great niece, Ava Ginther. Joe is survived by his wife, Connie (Ginther) Adams, Lenexa, KS; daughter, Michelle Carlstedt, her husband Jeff and children Brooke and Josh of Shawnee, KS; son, Tom Adams and Nicole and her children Jade, Rae’ven and Justin of Las Vegas, NV; sisters, Priscilla Mai and husband Allan of Chandler, AZ and Marilyn Pratt of Olathe, KS; brother-in-law J.R. Ginther and wife Carrol of Gem, KS and many nieces and nephews. Along with his family, Joe leaves behind many friends who were touched by his gentle nature and his commitment to Christ.
Visitation is from 4-8:00 p.m. Friday, December 18, 2015 at Baalmann Mortuary, Atwood, with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Atwood with burial to follow in Mt.
