John David Potterf, 88, of Colby, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2015. He was born October 3, 1926, in Junction City, KS to Clarence and Lena (Johnson) Potterf. He graduated from Winona High School in 1945. He was a World War II veteran and served in the Asia-Pacific region. He was a businessman, enjoyed flying single engine airplanes and was a volunteer in the Civil Air Patrol. John built ham radios as a hobby and was a member of the American Radio Relay League. He was a musician as well as a song writer and poet.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, LaVerne Lee, Ruth Carroll, Beth Weeks, and Alice Pepperel; and great grandson Kolton.
John is survived by his children, Lonnie Potterf, Goodland, KS, Katheryn Potterf (Rich Raile), Colorado Springs, CO, Judy (Jeff) Dark, Centennial, CO, Dan (Toni) Potterf, Centennial, CO, and Jay (Jan) Potterf, Snyder, CO; nine grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
