Joaquina Hardon, beloved wife and mother passed away, with loved ones at her bedside, on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at age 89, following a brief illness.
Joaquina was born on March 20, 1932, in Dexter, NM to Eutimio & Maria Lopez. She grew up in a large family, on a farm, and graduated from Dexter High School in 1950. In New Mexico, she met and married Albert Hardon on June 5, 1967. Together they raised two daughters, Gloria and Amber, and son Carlos.
Joaquina was always hard-working, but she also had a playful spirit, which brightened the lives of her family, friends and loved ones. They all have fond memories of her two-stepping through the living room, as she loved to dance. Life on the farm was what she preferred and keeping busy, knowing there was always something to be done. She was a hard worker whether it be in the home, in the garden or on the farm alongside her husband Albert. Driving a grain truck during the wheat harvest, driving truckloads of silage in the fall, and taking meals to the field were just a few of the things she enjoyed doing.
Blessed with good health and strength, she enjoyed walking and maintained a 4 mile per day routine for many years and well into her eighties. She always called herself, “a jack of all trades and master of none.” However, those lucky enough to sit at her & Albert’s dinner table soon realized her mastery of cooking & homemaking. She was a dedicated wife & mother, who always put her family first. In her spare time, she crocheted beautiful baby blankets for gifts, which graced many cribs. They are a tangible symbol of her love for all children.
Joaquina was preceded in death by her father Eutimio; her mother, Maria; seven siblings and her son-in-law Kyle Warning.
She is survived by her husband Albert; her three children, Gloria Warning, Amber (Mick Ranney) & Carlos; three grandchildren, Melanie (Mike) Seegers, Michelle Hosman & Justin (Tiffany) Warning; seven great-grandchildren, Bailey & Austin Seegers, McKenna & Luke Hosman, Lindsay (Isaac) Hueftle, Wyatt & Jordyn Warning; her brother Manuel (Rose) Lopez; her sister Anita (Martin Hernandez) Maner and numerous nieces & nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 12th, 2021, at Baalmann Mortuary, 109 N. 2nd St in Atwood, KS. Interment will be at the Atwood Fairview Cemetery. Joaquina loved books & animals, so in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Atwood Public Library or the McCook Nebraska Humane Society.
