Joan Margret Morphy, 89, of Colby, died Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at Citizens Medical Center, Colby. She was born on the family farm at Temple Hill in rural Onslow, IA, on January 20, 1933, to Bernard and Margret (Fagan) Keating. Being raised on a farm, Joan developed a lifelong love for the farm life. After high school, Joan attended Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, IA, where she received a nursing degree. Joan worked as a nurse for most of her life. She was also a lifelong catholic and married Harry Morphy at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, in Temple Hill, IA, on June 1, 1957. In her younger years, Joan enjoyed golfing. She also liked playing bridge and other card games. Joan especially loved spending time with her grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harry; parents; son David Arthur Morphy; daughter Jane Ellen Morphy; three brothers and two sisters.
Joan is survived by her daughters Julie (Charles) Saddler and Lisa Morphy; grandsons Cade and Alex Morphy, and their mother Carol.
Memorial Masses will take place at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Colby, and at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2022, at the Mary Our Queen Church, in Omaha, NE, with inurnment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Omaha.
