Jo Wolf

Jo Wolf was born on November 23, 1935 to Ralph and Marge McGimsey in Hays, KS. Jo passed away on January 18, 2015 with her family by her side. Jo was preceded in death by her husband Sam, parents, and infant son, Sammy Lee Wolf. Jo graduated from Central High School, Salina, KS, and attended Fort Hays State University. Jo married Sam Wolf on May 26, 1956 at her Aunt Mable’s house in Colby. In 2006 they celebrated their 50th anniversary with a family vacation in Branson, MO, a favorite vacation spot for Sam & Jo. Jo and Sam were blessed with 4 children, Sammy Lee 1957, Dexa 1958, Ralph 1960, Pat 1962. Jo loved playing the guitar and she taught guitar classes through Colby Community College and she also taught private lessons in the home for many years. Her love of music carried over as she enjoyed our local bluegrass festival, Pickin’ on the Plains. Sam & Jo spent many hours making signs, distributing advertisements and promoting the festival. She loved the music at the festival but she was especially fond of The McLemore Family and Driven. Jo was especially proud of her grandchildren, Brian & Samantha. She never passed up an opportunity to brag about them! And then she was even more excited to tell stories about her 4 great grandchildren; Aiden and Colsen Wolf, Brynnley and Baylor McLemore. Jo enjoyed making personalized scrapbooks using her unique artistic talents for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and she recently had been working on scrapbooks for Brynnley and Aiden. She is survived by Dexa (Peter) Swanson, Riverside CA, Ralph (Kim) Wolf, Pat Wolf, all of Colby, Brian (Jennifer) Wolf, Aiden & Colsen, Overland Park, KS, and Samantha (Ryan) McLemore, Brynnley & Baylor, Colby, brother Lee (Christine) McGimsey, Mammoth Lakes, CA, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. A celebration of Jo’s life was held at Kersenbrock Funeral Chapel, Colby on Jan 23. Suggested memorials are: Genesis - Thomas County, or Hospice Services, Inc.
