Jari Skiles

Jari Jae Skiles, 57, of Brewster, KS, passed away July 11, 2016, in Brewster. She was born September 15, 1958, In Ulysses, KS, to Jay Beaty Seyferth and Carolyn Kay (Davis) Seyferth.

Jari spent her first four years in Manhattan, KS, while her dad attended K-State. The family later moved to Iowa and then to Nebraska, where she attended grade school. They moved back to Ulysses, KS in 1974 and she graduated from Ulysses High School in 1977. She attended Colby Community College, where she met her husband, Steve Skiles. They were married August 26, 1978.

Jari loved animals and was active in 4-H, showing horses and cattle. She was very artistic, always making different items for family and friends. She enjoyed being with her family, fishing and just having fun. She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in the early 90’s and was very restricted with the activities she enjoyed so well. Her biggest joy in life was raising her kids.

She was preceded in death by her father; grandparents, Kenneth and Wilma Davis and “Soup” and Ruth Seyferth and mother-in-law, Lola Skiles.

Jari is survived by her devoted husband, Steve, Brewster; children, Sean Andrew Skiles, Colby and Randee Jaylyn Skiles, Brewster; mother Carolyn Seyferth, Ulysses; sister Julie Seyferth, Ulysses; brother, Jack (Angie) Seyferth, Garden City; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Cremation was chosen, as was her wish. A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby, KS.
