Janice Linville

Janice Linville, 86, of Colby, Kansas, passed away October 10, 2022, at Ascension Senior Living in Wichita, Kansas. She was born July 2, 1936, to Forest (Punk) and Eva (Mahorney) Denny on a farm in Rawlins County, Kansas. The family, including her sisters Connie and Carol, moved to Colby in 1945, where Janice graduated from Colby High School in 1954.

On April 10, 1955, she married Harold Leslie Linville at the Colby United Methodist Church. Janice was a loving and supportive wife helping her husband with his construction business and supporting his 41-year career in the Kansas National Guard.

Janice enjoyed life and valued time with family and friends. She never met a stranger. Her love of people and her attention to detail was reflected in her work life, having worked at the Colby Chamber of Commerce, Hi-Plains Co-Op, Farmers and Merchants Bank, the Prairie Drummer, Colby Truck and Tractor, and ending her career as registrar at the Prairie Museum of Art and History. She was a proud supporter of the Colby High School Alumni Association, serving as secretary for many years. She was a member of the Colby United Methodist Church.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; and two sisters, Connie Kreamer and Carol Gardiner, both of Phoenix, AZ.

Janice is survived by her two daughters, Debra Berndsen (Dennis), Hutchinson and Dina Casey (Keith), Park City; grandchildren, Kyle Casey, Dighton; Erin (DJ) Seghers, Wichita; Julie Berndsen, Overland Park, and John Berndsen, Hutchinson; great-grandchildren Blake and Averie Seghers and Korbin Casey; and many extended family members and friends.

Janice’s family wants to express their heartfelt appreciation to Brian Unruh, Physician’s Assistant - Citizens Medical Center, the staff at Prairie Senior Living, Colby; Ascension Living Center, Wichita; and Good Shepherd Hospice, Wichita, for their care.

Visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 13, 2022, at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby, with family present. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 14, 2022, at the Colby United Methodist Church, Colby. Burial will follow at the Beulah Cemetery, Colby, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Thomas County Historical Society or Colby United Methodist Church and sent in care of Baalmann Mortuary, PO Box 391, Colby, KS 67701.
