James F. “Jim” Baalman, 78, of Grinnell, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017, in Colby, KS. He was born March 16, 1938, in Hays, KS, to Francis and Sarah (Murphy) Baalman. He graduated from Grinnell High School and attended one year of college at St. Benedict College, in Atchison, KS. He was a mechanic for 42 years and farmed for 25 years. Jim was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, in Grinnell.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Robert Baalman.
He is survived by his siblings, Thomas (Patricia) Baalman, Grinnell, KS, Daniel (Pat) Baalman, Colby, KS, John Baalman, Oakley, KS, Rosanne (John) Koggie, Goodland, KS; sister-in-law Judy Baalman, Quincy, CA; nieces and nephews, Janet (Martin) Gates, Joe (Kelly) Baalman, Gary (Laura) Baalman, David (Dayla) Baalman, Melissa (Rob) Thompson, Samantha Baalman, Meagan (Zak) Baalman Wairama and Amy (Dean) Herl and 15 great nieces and nephews.
Cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be 10:30am, Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Grinnell.
