Jacob “Jake” Chet Beckley, of Colby, died Saturday, January 27, 2018, in Grand Island, NE at the age of 30. He was born December 28, 1987, in Atwood, KS to Chet and Jody (Colburn) Beckley. Jake's favorite thing to do was to spend time with his family. He also enjoyed fishing, shooting targets, and playing his Xbox. He married his high school sweetheart, Randi Donley, on March 30, 2009, and they had four children together. They loved going on long walks, working in their yard together, eating pizza, and binge-watching tv shows. He loved to play practical jokes and was a great sport when the joke was on him, and he generally tolerated working on the remodeling of their home when Randi nagged him too much. Jake adored his wife and cherished his children. He especially enjoyed tickling them until they would say the magic password - "You're the best daddy in the whole wide world and I love you!" One of his favorite traditions was their weekly family pizza night. Jake was co-owner of Beckley Harvesting and a member of the U.S. Custom Harvesters, Inc. He was a faithful member of the Colby Wesleyan Church where he served on the board, and was the first ever student to graduate from Heartland Christian School in May of 2007. He later became the first of Heartland Christian School's alumni to serve on the HCS board. He brought much insight and wisdom to all those around him.
Jake was preceded in death by his miscarried baby; his grandfathers, Duane Beckley and Robert Colburn, and his grandmother Eunice Colburn.
He is survived by his wife, Randi and their children, Grace Elizabeth (7), Claire Leann (5), Michael Jacob (4), and Jack Dewayne (3 months); parents, Chet and Jody Beckley, of Atwood; in-laws, Ron and Lona Donley, of Colby; brothers, Josh (Carla) Beckley, of Atwood, and Zach Beckley (fiancée Biz) of Sherwood, ND; sister-in-law Kasey (Joshua) Griffith, of Colby; grandmother Betty Beckley, of Colby; nephews Blake, Blaine, and Garett; niece Aurora; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
