Irene C. Ziegler, 94, Grainfield, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Gove County Medical Center, Quinter.
She was born Jan. 14, 1919, in Pfeifer to Joseph and Anna (Mader) Schmidtberger.
She married Pete Ziegler on Jan 10, 1944, in Grainfield. He preceded her in death March 1, 2001, after 57 years of marriage.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing cards and sewing quilts.
Survivors include five daughters, Diana Fisher, Hays, Rogene Moeckl and husband, Adolf, Wichita, Marilyn Branen and husband, Leonard, Perry, Okla., Sharon Giebler and husband, Harry, Hays, and Leanne Hastert and husband, Art, Osage City; four sons, Arlin Ziegler and wife, Janet, Grainfield, Kenneth Ziegler and wife, Linda, Oakley, Ralph Ziegler, Kansas City, and Loren Ziegler and wife, Eileen, Silver Lake; a brother, Victor Schmidtberger, Quinter; a sister, Marcella Heier, Park; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Ralph Fisher; and two sisters, Albina Mowery and Hilda Wolf.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Grainfield.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at St. Agnes Education Center, Grainfield.
A vigil will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the center.
