Irene Hazen, 100, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the Logan County Senior Living, in Oakley, KS. She was born on July 12, 1923, to Nick and Anna (Albers) Roths in Ransom, KS.
Irene married Bill Hazen on November 12, 1946, in Ransom, KS. He died on March 29, 2009.
Irene was a homemaker and provided childcare for many families in Grinnell. She never missed the opportunity to play Bingo and she enjoyed playing card games and putting together jigsaw puzzles.
Irene was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, of Grinnell, the VFW Auxiliary and Daughters of Isabella.
Survivors include her four sons, Jim, of Grinnell, Bob (Marla) of Lampe, MO, Dick (Dee), of Salina, KS and Ron (Deb), of Cheyenne, WY; three daughters, Ginger Seibel, of Salina, KS, Marie Schmidt (Virgil), of Golden, CO, and Karen Boys, of Logan, KS; 23 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bill and son-in-law Brett Boys.
Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2024, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, in Grinnell, with burial in the church cemetery.
