Henry C. “Hank” Vette, 89, of Colby, died Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Hays Medical Center, Hays, KS. He was born September 30, 1925, in Levant, KS, to Henry D. and Edith (Atkins) Vette. Hank married Eileen Eddy on December 25, 1947, in Osborne, KS. He was a United States Army veteran, serving in WWII and the Korean War, and was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. He owned Vette Appliance, was a manager at the Case dealership and then spent thirty one years working for Ford-New Holland as a zone manager. Hank enjoyed wood working, repairing and refinishing furniture and was active in restoring the Cooper Barn. He was also a member of the Colby United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; grandson Jerry K. Vette Jr and twelve siblings.
Hank is survived by his children, Carolyn K. (William) Hedge, Plymouth, MA; Tamera R. Jones, Great Bend, KS and Jerry K. (Sherry) Vette, Garden City, KS; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2-7:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2015 at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the Colby United Methodist Church.
