Harriett Bixenman, 78, of Grinnell, died Thursday, September 1, 2011. She was born Aug. 16, 1933 in Agra, KS to Harry and Gladys (Dixon) Beedy. She attended Oakley High School, graduating in 1951. She worked at the Oakley Graphic after graduating high school until she married Bill Bixenman on August 18, 1956. They lived on their farm until 1986 when they moved to Grinnell, KS. She enjoyed creative writing, scrapbooking for her family, spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchild, and watching all of them in their various activities. Harriett was a member of the St. Mary’s Altar Society and Immaculate Conception Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents and two children, Denise and Gerri.
She is survived by her husband Bill Bixenman, four children, Pam Bechard (Richard), Overland Park, Doug Bixenman (Lisa), Grinnell, Stephanie Ostmeyer (Terry), Grinnell, Roger Bixenman (Karla), Hays, two sisters Joan Henry, Hays and Pat Theis, Topeka, 12 grand children and 1 great grandchild.
A visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept 4, 2011 in the Immaculate Conception Parish Center, Grinnell. Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept 5, 2011 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Grinnell. Catholic burial will follow the church service at Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Hospice Services, Inc. or for Masses. Baalmann Mortuary (Oakley) is handling Arrangements.
