Grant White

December 21, 1955 — September 28, 2024

Grant Wayne White, 68, of Colby, died Saturday, September 28, 2024. He was born December 21, 1955, in Hoxie, KS, to Herbert and Carolee (Stillwell) White.

Growing up, Grant was involved in the swimming and diving teams, and was an avid wrestler. He could usually be spotted hanging out with childhood friends Jeff Miller, Rod Macatee, Tom Pratt, Walt Woofter, Brad Hansen, Jeff Beecher, and many others.

He graduated from Colby High School in 1974 after winning a state title at #112 in wrestling, then went on to wrestle at Colby Community College for two seasons.

Grant worked at the Colby Supermarket, Bogarts, and Dillons for most of his career, but also spent several afternoons assisting at Earthworks building landscapes. He would eventually retire from the grocery industry in 2019 and begin working at the Bottle Gallery.

On May 26, 1984, Grant would marry Rhonda Engleman, in Colby, and to this union two sons were born.

He loved camping, fishing, family trips, golfing, playing softball, bowling, and playing with his dogs, but most special to him was his grandchildren. He was always ready to cheer and attend their milestones, and never hesitated to spoil them with sweets.

Grant was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jerry White, sister-in-law Dona White and an infant sister.

He is survived by his wife Rhonda; sons Derek (Leticia) White and Drew (Melissa) White; grandchildren, Eli, Kalyssa, Gala, Wayne, Kya, Kynlee, and Karley; brother John White; sisters, Linda (Wes) Rummel, Debra (Bill) Messamore, Karen Harper and Tracy Campbell; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
