George Nickolas Albers, 81, of Grinnell, died Monday, July 21, 2014. He was born August 26, 1932 in Sheridan County, KS to Anton and Helen (Schulte) Albers. On June 22, 1957 he married Carol Moore and to this union fifteen children were born. He worked for the City of Grinnell and later owned and operated the Grinnell Standard Service Station. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 2864 and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marie Holaday; brother, Julian and two grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; children Nicholus, Denice (Bill) Jehring, Angie (Greg) Heinrich, Bea Albers, Merl (Stephanie), Julian (Tammy), Loren (Amy), Kent (Vickey), Eva (Carey) Crispin, Faye (Todd) Cyr, Hope (Duane) Weninger, Tranda (Chris) Morrissey, Trudi Albers, Veronica (James) Hartman, and Ivan; siblings Bernard, Lucille Houston, Twila (Bill) Stover, Ronald (Teresa), Rita (Pat) Vavricka; fifty four grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the Immaculate Conception Parish Center in Grinnell, KS with a Vigil at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2014 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Grinnell.
