Galen Lynn Covalt, 67, passed away on. October 19th, 2023. He was born in Norton, KS on April 29,1956. He was the youngest of 5 children of Roy and Beryl Covalt. He married Kathy Hall Covalt on April 3,1982, and together they had one daughter Jennifer Covalt Stinemetz.

Galen went to grade school in Studley, KS, then graduated from Hoxie High School. He proceeded to Goodland Vo Tech where he earned a degree as a farm diesel mechanic. He went on to be employed with the Studley Co-op with his father, Roy Covalt, and his brother-in-law, Robert Chadwick. He was one of the youngest propane drivers at that time. From there he went to work for the Cooper family in Hill City, as a heavy equipment operator. Taking his skills to Murfin Drilling from which he retired.

Galen was a member of the Baptist Church in Hill City, where he made many good friends. He enjoyed many hobbies, like fishing, you could find him on the lake enjoying competitive fishing. He spent many days hunting with friends and family. His favorite part of hunting was watching his dog Rusty hunt. He always had a story to tell related to fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed his morning coffee with anybody that would stop and visit at the restaurants or up at Cameron's Corner.

Galen Is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Stinemetz (Jason), sisters Beverly Haley, of Salina, Carla Chadwick (Robert), of Kansas City and Judy Connelly (Wayne), and many nieces and nephews and multiple friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Beryl Covalt and his brother Rick Covalt.

Graveside service will be held on Thursday October 26, 2023, 1:00 P.M. At the Studley cemetery.
