Frances Antonette Souchek was born to Rudolph and Agnes Horinek on June 27, 1919 in rural Rawlins County Kansas and died at the age of 96 on Monday, March 14, 2016.
Frances was a member and office holder of the Sacred Heart Altar Society, HDU, Atwood Senior Center and Pinochle club. Frances was active on the farm in her youth and the first 21 years of marriage. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, card games, puzzles and word games. Her children benefited from her sewing, quilting and crocheting hobbies. She maintained her Czech language abilities and, as was reported by Kathy Davis-Vrbas in the Atwood newspaper, she spent six months translating 35 years worth of minutes from the Catholic Workman meetings, which were originally recorded in Czech. Her family and friends will miss her willing smile and laughter. May she forever rest in peace.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Henry E. Souchek in 1987; son, Gery Lee in 1966; her parents and siblings, Elizabeth, Jim, Rudolph, Frank, Lou, Bernard, Steve and Ed.
She is survived by her children, Marguerite and Bob Ward, of Perth, Australia, Leonard and Doris Souchek, of Puyallup, WA, Marvin and Anne Souchek, of Lincoln, NE, Anthony Souchek, of Atwood, KS, Frances Ann Souchek, of Colorado Springs, CO, Jimmy Dean (JD) and Giovanna Souchek, of Gainesville, VA; ten grandchildren, Edith, Sabina, Terry, Regina, Andrea, Mary Ellen, Jennifer, Jeremy, Daniel and Laura Valentina and 4 great grandchildren, Kathleen, Quinton, Mackenzie and Aidan.
Visitation is 4-7:00 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2016 at Baalmann Mortuary, Atwood with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Atwood, with burial to follow in Mt.
