Florence "Flo" Rodriguez, of Colby, Kansas, passed away peacefully, in the presence of her children, in Hays, Kansas, on November 3, 2020, at the age of 74.
Flo was born on November 6, 1945 in Lakin, Kansas. She graduated from Deerfield High School in 1963. She was a long-time resident of Colby and worked at Colby Elementary School where she was a Paraprofessional and will most fondly be remembered as a beloved cross guard.
Flo was a devoted member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and enjoyed her role as a regular lector and an avid volunteer. She also enjoyed her time assisting the elderly via hospice care. As a result of her generous spirit and great personality, she was loved by many and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. Flo enjoyed spending time with her 17 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling, gardening, thrift shopping, and Facebook.
Flo is survived by her children, Eddie Rojas, Brian Rojas, Rina Brungardt, Adrienne Weigand and David Rodriguez; brother Tony Garcia and sister Frances Medina. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Timmie Hernandez, Mary Otero and Jennie Bribiesca; brothers, Curilio Silva, Murilio Silva and Vincent Gallegos and her mother Josefa Garcia.
Visitation will take place from 1-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2020, at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby, followed by recitation of the Rosary at 3:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, November 9, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Colby, Kansas. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Valley View Cemetery, Garden City, KS. Memorials are suggested to the church and can be sent in care of Baalmann Mortuary, PO Box 391, Colby, KS 67701.
