Everett Holthus

Everett William Holthus was born on June 21, 1930, on the family farm 8 miles East of Atwood to Ted and Lydia (Dunker) Holthus. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ludell. He passed away at the Atwood Good Samaritan on November 13, 2014 at the age of 84.

Everett graduated from Atwood High School in 1948. He married Norma Dee Porter on March 11, 1951 in Ludell. To this union three children were born; Terry William, Gregory Allan and Nancy Jo.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church until it closed in 1966 and then transferred to Grace Lutheran Church in Atwood. He belonged to the Ludell softball team and loved attending all sporting events. He was very active in attending school activities for his children and grandchildren.

Everett was a passionate farmer; farming the land and taking care of his livestock. Everett and Dee resided at their farm for 45 years and moved to Atwood in 1995. He became a resident of Atwood Good Samaritan and remained there until his passing.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his brother, Victor.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Dee; sons, Terry and wife Leslie of Wahoo, NE, Greg and wife Pati of McCook, NE; daughter, Nancy Taylor and husband Kenton, of Colby; five grandchildren, Stacey and Sam Klein of Elkhorn, NE, Phil Holthus of Kansas City, MO, Jeff Holthus and fiancé Caitlin of McCook, NE, Kimberly Holthus of Elkhorn, NE and Brandon Taylor, of Hays, KS; sister Kathy Willcoxon and husband, Sam of Highlands Ranch, CO; sister-in-law, Lil Holthus of Aurora, CO and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Monday November 17, 2014 from 4 to 7 pm at the Baalmann Mortuary, Atwood. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at the Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church Atwood. Burial will be in Immanuel Cemetery, Ludell, KS. Memorials are suggested to the Good Samaritan Society or Lutheran Hour, in care of Baalmann Mortuary, 109 N. 2nd St., Atwood, KS 67730. Online condolences: www.baalmannmortuary.com
