Eunice Query

April 5, 1942 — December 20, 2023

Eunice Query, age 81, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones at Citizens Medical Center Colby, KS. Eunice was born April 5, 1942, in Colby, KS to George Owens and Frances (Hapes) Owens. Eunice grew up in Brewster, KS where she married Clair Query on March 26, 1960. They raised their four children on the family farm outside of Brewster before moving to Colby, KS in 2002.

Besides life on the farm, Eunice made an impact on many girls in the Brewster community as a Girl Scout troop leader. Eunice loved family camping trips to the lake in the summertime, spending time with her grandkids and telling silly ghost stories by the campfire. She enjoyed riding along with Clair as he drove semi across the United States and sharing stories of their many adventures. She loved Elvis and Eeyore, playing Bingo, square dancing, painting ceramics, playing marbles, playing solitaire and other card games with her kids and grandkids.

Eunice was preceded in death by her parents, George Owens, and Frances (Hapes) Shaffer.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Clair Query of Colby; sister Joyce McDaniel of Colby; her four children, Kim Cardwell of Colby, Kelli (Bill) Schroder of Brighton, CO, Kris (Kevin) Easter of Cave Creek, AZ and Charles (Bryndalyn) Query of Topeka, KS; grandchildren, Stephanie, Taylor, Ryan, Zachary, Darren, Lauren, Alyssa, Tayte, Colby, Jennifer, Jackson and fourteen great grandchildren.

Eunice had such a zest for life and loved her family hard. As her sister once said, “They’ll never make another one like her!”

A family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. For information or condolences visit baalmannmortuary.com
