Eunice Marie Braxmeyer, daughter of Joseph S. Leitner and Barbara (Kleidosty) Leitner, was born August 10, 1935, in Herndon, Kansas. Eunice died September 2, 2021, at the age of 86.
Eunice was the oldest of four children. She attended school at a country school, St. Mary’s Catholic School and Herndon High School, in Herndon, Kansas, graduating in 1953. On June 4, 1957, she was united in marriage to Dale “Peach” Riepl. To this union were born three children, Tammy, Jim and Lori. They resided on a farm northwest of Atwood and were engaged in farming. Peach died in 1987. On April 24, 1993, Eunice was united in marriage to Lucas (Luke) Braxmeyer.
Eunice devoted her life to her faith and her family. Once her children were grown, she worked at various jobs in Atwood, retiring after many years at the Rawlins County Health Center. She enjoyed her daily conversations with her sister, playing pinnacle, and annual trips to Palm Springs, California with her sister and brothers.
Eunice was a member of Atwood Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers Altar Society, and a former member of Town and Country Guild.
Eunice was preceded in death by her husbands, Dale and Luke and her parents. She is survived by her six children/stepchildren, Tammy (Brad) Loker, Jim (Kathy) Riepl, Lori (Cory) Morris, Mike (Rosie) Braxmeyer, John (Brenda) Braxmeyer, and Jane (Kevin) Grieves; 13 grandchildren/step grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren/step grandchildren; sister Theresa (Frank) Chvatal; brothers Roy Leitner and Wayne (Cathy) Leitner; several nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
Rosary at 9:00 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Atwood, with Fr. Norbert Dlabal officiating. Private family interment will take place at Mount Calvary Cemetery, in Atwood.
