Erwin Thiele

Send Flowers   Erwin E Thiele, 93, passed away early on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the Prairie Senior Living Center. He was born October 7, 1924 the second son of Franz and Elsa Thiele in Norton, KS and lived on the family farm until joining the Navy in August 1944. He served on a transport ship moving supplies to the Philippines and New Guinea. He married Eltora Emilie Ann Dunker October 7, 1946 where they farmed in Norton and raised 5 children until she passed away November 23, 1972. He sold the farm remarried and divorced Joyce Domsch in Atwood, KS. He moved to Colby, KS and remarried January 8, 1979 to Wilma G. nee Staats Dell. They just celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary. They enjoyed traveling to see their 10 children located across the US, many US cities, the Panama Canal, and Europe. He had several businesses. He farmed raising grain and livestock, invested in rental properties and stocks, and operated the Northwest Vacuum Shop. He was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church He is survived by sisters Eileen, Charlotte, Wanda, Sharon and brother Loren; his 5 children: Gerald, Wayne, Lynn, Jeanette, and Ronald and Wilma’s 5 children: Paula, Susan, Peggy, Brent and Becky; and his 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren and Wilma’s 16 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his brothers Raymond and Karl & sister Karen. Funeral services and reception for Erwin Thiele are Monday, March 19, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 855 E 5th, Colby, KS. Interment will be 2:30 pm at the Norton Cemetery at US Highway 283, Norton, KS beside Eltora. Visitation will be Sunday, March 18, 2018 at 3:30-6:00 PM at the Kersenbrock Funeral Chapel . Memorial gifts will be directed to Triity Lutheran Church, Colby, KS and Immanuel Lutheran Church, Norton, KS
