Enedine "Sally Ann" Olson, 84, wife of Robert W. Olson of Atwood, a 1949 graduate of Decatur Community High School in Oberlin, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, surrounded by her husband and children at the home of Debra (Larry) Marks in Mulvane. She was born May 1, 1929, in Pittsburg, Calif., the daughter of John and Enedina (Martinez) Duran. She grew up on a small vegetable farm near Atwater, Calif. She and her family raised peaches, walnuts, oranges, assorted vegetables, and hogs.
She met Robert W. Olson on a blind date and they were married on April 24, 1955, in Atwater, Calif. After his discharge from Castle Air Force Base in Atwater, they moved to Kansas to begin farming. She was known in Atwood for her homemade tortillas, worked in food service in Atwood and was a cook for seven years at the Atwood Elementary School.
Survivors include her husband; daughters, Kathy (Stan) Legier, Lancaster, Calif.; Annette (Bob) Frenzl, Salina; Debra (Larry) Marks, Mulvane; and Ava (Lewis) Perkins, Wichita; a son, Rheinhold (Jeaneen) Olson, Celina, Texas; a sister, Irene (Lawrence) Torres, Merced, Calif; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Joseph and Christopher; two sisters, Tillie and Margaret; and a grandson, Scott Olson.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at the First Christian Church in Atwood with the Rev. Mike McVay officiating. Reception will follow in the church basement after a short graveside gathering at Fairview Cemetery, public is welcome. A memorial was established in her name at Good Shepard Hospice 439 N.
