Elsie Lorraine Wolters, 88, of Oberlin, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, in Wichita, KS. She was born March 27, 1931, in Selden, KS, to Everett and Ruby Mae (Anderson) Roberts. After graduating high school, she went on to get her nursing certificate. On February 14, 1955, Elsie married Gus Wolters, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, in Oberlin. They made their home in Atwood the first 27 years of their marriage and were blessed with three children; Timothy, Teresa and Rebekah. In 1982, Gus and Elsie moved to their home in Oberlin. Elsie was a homemaker and enjoyed doing crafts, painting, pottery, flowers and spending time with the family dog. She especially loved spending time with her family. Elsie was a active member of the Kansas authors Club, Project HOPE Foundation, Lutheran Church and president of local Diabetes Under Control organization. Elsie also received multiple Editor’s Choice Awards for her poems from the International Library of Poetry.
Elsie was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Lorraine Wolters, in 1976; her parents and husband Gus Wolters.
She is survived by her children, Tim (Barbara) Wolters, Ludell, KS and Rebekah (Fernando) Peña, Wichita, KS; six grandchildren, Lacy Wolters (Sergio Ramirez), April (Jordan) Dunker, Ashley (Tracy) Taylor, Levi Wolters, Ian Peña and Ella Peña; seven great grandchildren, Kendall and Kamryn Taylor, Reece, Grayson and Josselyn Dunker and Maria and Isabela Ramirez; brother, Jack (Donna) Roberts, Longmont, CO; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
