Douglas A. Nelson, 48, of Oakley, died Wednesday, May 4, 2011. He was born January 27, 1963 to Donald and Emma (Richardson) Nelson. He was a 1981 Graduate of Oakley High School, 1986 Graduate of Goodland Vo-Tech and a 2002 graduate of MTC Truck Driving School. Douglas was employed over the years by Colby Dillon’s, Colby Wal-Mart and Hathaway Hauling. He loved his family and enjoyed spending every minute with them whether it was playing sports, playing cards or traveling.
Preceded in death by his father Donald Nelson.
Survived by his mother Emma; two children Cameron and Kalli Nelson; two sisters, Sherrol Hamilton and Gaylene Basa (Philip); a brother Kevin Nelson; two uncles Charles Richardson (Geraldine) and Albert Richardson; six aunts Martha Gossett (Harold), Darlene Agan (Dennis), Louanna Meadows (Walter), Maxine Nelson, Nelda Dinning and Louise Nelson; two Nephews Brandon and Carlos Basa and many more extended family.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2011 at Baalmann Mortuary. Family will receive friends from 4 -6 p.m. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at the Christian Church, Oakley.
