Doris (Warta) Hartwell

Doris Lea Warta Hartwell passed away on July 4th, 2020, in Glendale, AZ, at the age of 94. Doris was born in Glasco, KS October 13th, 1925 to Dr. A H Shull and Margaret (Ludwig) Shull. She married Dr. Edmund L. Warta in 1946 and later moved to Atwood, KS where they raised their daughter Kristen and sons Mark and Alan. She belonged to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, of Atwood, for many years.

Doris was preceded in death by husband Edmund in 1973. She was blessed to have married a second time to her husband Robert L. Hartwell who preceded her in death in 1976. Also preceding Doris in death was her beloved daughter Kristen Warta Schissler, in 2000.

She is survived by sons, Dr. Mark Warta and Dr. Alan and wife Daren Warta; grandchildren Kara Warta, Kyle Schissler, Dr. Leigh Strecker, Dr. Trish Barton, Tara Sheets, Brett Warta, Dr. Maggie Hunsicker and Ben Warta and 16 great grandchildren.

Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Atwood, with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass is 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2020, also at the Church. Interment will take place in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Atwood.
