Donna Waterman

Donna (Marshall) Waterman was born November 13, 1922 in Rexford, KS to Jess and Mabel (Thieler) Marshall. She was baptized August 18, 1946. She was united in marriage to Martin Waterman Sr. on February 3, 1949. She was a member at Trinity Lutheran Church in Colby, KS and Redeemer Lutheran Church in Atwood. She departed this life on July 2, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Center, Atwood, at age 91. Donna graduated from high school in Colorado Springs. As a young woman, she worked as a stock room clerk at JCPenney. She was a proud farm wife and mother. The children and grandchildren helped in her large garden and she was known to raise hundreds of chickens each year. After moving to town, she worked at the Atwood Senior Center as a cook. A very creative and skillful person, Donna enjoyed craft and quilting groups, working countless hours and going through many sewing machines. She was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband Martin; parents; sister, Catherine and husband, Paul Miller; brothers, Jesse and wife, Mary Lou Marshall and James and wife, Ingrid Marshall; son-in-law Fendoll Bowen; grandson, Christopher Bowen; and grandson-in-law, Ben Brogan.

She is survived by daughters, Coleen Bowen of Greeley, CO; Janet and husband, Carl Miller, of Gem, KS; Virginia and husband, Gary Solko, of Ludell, KS; and son, Martin Jr. and wife, Jane Waterman of Atwood. Also grandchildren, Jonathan and wife, Tanya Bowen, Jodi Bowen, Brandon Conrad, James and wife, Mandi Solko, Brian Solko, Kristy and husband, Tim Plander, and Keri and husband, John Riener; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Braden Solko, Megan and Cora Plander, and Barrett Riener; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 4-7:00pm, Friday, July 4, 2014 at Baalmann Mortuary, Atwood. Funeral service will be 2:00pm on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Atwood.
