Donald Ostmeyer

Donald F. Ostmeyer, 85, Grinnell, died Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Hays Medical Center. He was born June 2, 1928 to Anthony and Katherine (Rueschhoff) Ostmeyer in Thomas County, Kansas. He married Patsy Sowers on October 29, 1956 in Oakley, KS. He was a lifetime farmer and a DeKalb seed dealer. He was a member of the Grinnell VFW, Immaculate Conception Parish and a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He was a former board member of the CO-OP and Grinnell Schools.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lucine Hegarty.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy, Grinnell; son, Grant (Maureen) Ostmeyer, Oakley; daughters, Stacy (Greg) Tholen, Grinnell, Jill (Jim) Alexander, Shawnee, KS, Toni (Randall) Hubert, Garden Plain, KS; twelve grandchildren, Tyler Tholen, Chris Ostmeyer, Chase Ostmeyer, Tanner Tholen, Austin Hubert, Trisha Tholen, Camille Hubert, Jay Ostmeyer, Josh Alexander, Blake Hubert, Tenille Tholen, Jonathan Alexander and brother-in-law, Bart Hegarty.

Cremation was chosen and family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Parish Center, Grinnell, with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 18, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Grinnell.
