Donald Antholz

October 6, 1931 — December 6, 2023

Donald Robert Antholz finished life on this earth at the Good Samaritan Society in Atwood, Kansas, on December 6, 2023.

He was born October 6, 1931, to George and Ethel Antholz, on the family farm 4 ½ miles northwest of McDonald, Kansas.

Don enjoyed a typical farm childhood, where some Saturdays were spent taking milk, cream, and eggs to McDonald to exchange for other grocery items. A movie and refreshments were usually enjoyed before returning home.

Don attended Grand Prairie Country School a mile from home through the eighth grade, along with his older sister, Dorothy (Gains) (Engelman), and younger sister, Carol (Mears). He graduated from McDonald Rural High School in 1949.

In 1952, Don was drafted into the Army and served in the Korean War, where he earned the Combat Infantry Badge while on the front lines. He was honorably discharged in 1954.

The mid-1950’s were dry and the crops were stressed, so Don decided to seek employment in Denver over the winter to pay his living expenses while there wasn’t as much activity on the farm.

While in Denver, he met Florence Belle Haas, and they were married on October 5, 1956. To this union three children were born, Robbin in 1957 and twins April and Allen in 1960.

In November 1971, while a sponsor for a church youth group attending a conference in San Antonio, TX, Don trusted in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

Over the Years, Don was involved in Full Gospel Business Men, Gideons International, Salvation Army and Hospice. He was still involved in farming until his last few years.

Don and Florence were married for 66 years, until Florence passed away on October 9, 2022.

Survivors include his children, Robbin Antholz and his wife Michelle, April Rodriguez and Allen Antholz, 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Memorial Service will take place at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Courts of Praise Church, Atwood, KS.
