Diana Lynn Schiffner, 79, a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, volunteer, and friend to many, peacefully passed away at Hope Springs of Wallace on February 6, 2025, due to complications from Alzheimer’s Disease.
Diana is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Glenn Schiffner; their sons, Brooke (Denver, CO) and his wife Kristen, Clay Schiffner (Ozark, MO) and his wife Julie, and their families, including five grandchildren; her sister, Bette Albers (Oakley, KS); and her brother, Dan Davis (Todd, NC).
Born on November 13, 1945, in McPherson, Kansas, to Clay and Joy (Ford) Davis, Diana was a pillar of her faith community and deeply involved in Colby life across nearly eight decades. From her early days as a Colby Eagle High School cheerleader and carhop at Rainbow Drive-In restaurant to her 50-year career as a hairstylist at Carousel Beauty Shop, Diana lived a life of warmth, energy, and dedication.
Her kindness, laughter, and unwavering faith left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Diana had a rare gift for making people feel like family, whether they were lifelong friends or meeting her for the first time. Her home was always open, serving as a gathering place for family, friends, and the community. From team building “carb-load” pasta nights during Eagles football season to backyard BBQs by the pool, she created a welcoming space where laughter and love were always on the menu. As a lifelong and passionate supporter of the Kansas State University Wildcats, Diana was known for hosting fun-filled tailgate parties with her husband at the KSU parking lot, complete with creative picnic cuisine and always served on purple plates! And they were constant pillars of Bill Snyder Family Stadium, occupying the same, west-side seats where they have been season ticket holders for more than 57 years.
Diana was endlessly busy, giving her time to countless community activities, including the Colby High School Booster Club, Meals on Wheels, PEO, Pi Gamma, women’s Bible study groups, church volunteerism, and fostering and supporting students from Colby Community College. She also played an invaluable role in supporting her husband’s service as a District Court judge from 1993 to 2014. Yet, no matter how full her days were, she always made time for what mattered most— faith, family, and friendship.
To her five grandchildren Kharli, Braden, Koble, Annika, and Tatum, “Grandma Diana” was a source of endless love, encouragement, and homemade treats, always cheering them on in their endeavors. Her family will forever cherish the memories of her warm hugs and the joy she found in their accomplishments.
Diana and Glenn’s love story was one of deep partnership and devotion, built on faith, laughter, and a shared love of community. Married on June 15, 1965, for nearly 60 years, they created a life filled with an unwavering commitment to one another.
Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m. Monday, February 10, 2025, at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby.
