Dewey R. Griffin was born on November 20, 1927 to Amos H. Griffin and Nina M. (Chadwick) Griffin. He graduated 8th grade in May 1943 and started working at the age of 13 to help support his family. He married Lola Mae Parsons on December 31, 1945. He served in the Army from 1946 to1947. After returning from the service he worked for Nikl Produce from 1947 until 1967. In 1967 he started his own business, Colby Salvage Metal and operated it until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of the 1 st Christian Church. He was a member of the American Legion for 62 years. Dewey enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Lola Mae, one brother, Bob Griffin (Mary Rose), two sisters, Opal Linville, and Beverly (David) Huessmann, four sons, Raymond (Donna), Ragene (Karen), Glenn (Chris), Tracey, three daughters, Debbie Kelly, Joy Griffin, and Billie Griffin, one daughter in law, Karen Griffin, 1 sister in law, Myrna Griffin, 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. His parents, three brothers, Royal, Claude, Fred, one sister Nina Farmer, one son Radean, and one son in law, Tom Kelly preceded him in death.
