Delores Jean Focke was born August 1, 1933 at Chardon, KS in Clinton Township. She was the second daughter of Louis G. and Grace (Birrer) Vap.
She attended Chardon Grade School until her family moved 12 miles north of Atwood and finished grade school at Bower School District. She then attended and graduated from Atwood High School.
While in high school, she met and later married Harold Focke on December 29, 1951, at St. Johns Lutheran Church. To this union four children were born: Cynthia, Melanie, Bill and James.
Jean was very active in the Lutheran Church as well as a proud mom and farm wife. She was also recognized as the “AVON” lady and enjoyed visiting with her customers. Jean enjoyed baking and was well known for her many wedding, birthday, anniversary or special occasion cakes.
She leaves to celebrate her memory, and the lessons she taught, her children, Cynthia (John) Buck, Melanie (Randy) Prideaux, Bill (Carla) Focke and James (Jackie) Focke. She was also loved and will be missed by 4 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and numerous family and friends.
