Deanna Lynn Sulzman

Deanna Lynn (Moos) Sulzman, 71, of Colby, KS passed away after complications from open heart surgery surrounded by family at Kearney Regional Medical Center on March 20, 2025. Deanna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.

Deanna graduated from Golden Plains (Rexford) High School in 1971, from there she attended St. Francis School of Nursing in Wichita. Later in life, while working full time, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Fort Hays State University and a Masters in Nursing from West Texas A&M. Deanna dedicated her life as a nurse practitioner to caring for others. She spent over 35 years working in healthcare, where she was known for her compassionate nature, her exceptional skill, and her ability to make every patient feel seen and heard. Her kind heart brought comfort to countless individuals.

Family was the center of her world. She poured her heart into creating a home filled with love, warmth, and cherished traditions. She never missed an activity of her children growing up and later her grandchildren. She prided herself on creating memorable holiday scavenger hunts and could frequently be found playing cards with her children and marbles with her grandchildren.

Deanna shared an incredible work ethic and a strong Catholic faith with her children and was involved in multiple service organizations in the Colby community including, Xi Zeta Zeta Sorority, St. Monica Circle Group, Altar Society, and the Rowdy Grandma's Club.

Deanna is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Loyola (Huelsman) Moos, her mother and father-in-law Johnny and Etta Marie (Pauls) Sulzman, and three brothers-in-law, Kenny Sabatka, Lester Kohler, and Larry Brungardt.

She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Wayne Sulzman; their three children, Dana (Sean) Youngman of Colby Kansas, Carrie (Jeff) Mark of Lenexa Kansas, and Brian (Amanda) Sulzman of Omaha Nebraska; ten grandchildren, Bailey, Brittany, Brayden, Allison, Kade, Kieren, Paige, Blake, Colby and Dylan and one great-grandchild, Kollyns; her brothers and sisters, Maetta Brungardt, Vernon Moos, Ida Kohler, and Dave (Connie) Moos, and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kelvin (Vicky) Sulzman, Rhonda Sabatka, Loran Sulzman and Randy Sulzman.

Her faith was the foundation of her life guiding her through every joy and challenge. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who were blessed to know her. Though she is no longer with us her spirit and faith will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
